Why should I get my patio cleaned?

Gutta Clean provides expert patio cleaning services in Worthing, a popular coastal town in West Sussex renowned for its attractive seafront, long promenade, and welcoming community atmosphere. Combining historic character with modern amenities, Worthing is an appealing location for homeowners who value both convenience and picturesque surroundings.

Due to Worthing’s maritime climate, which brings mild temperatures and regular rainfall throughout the year, outdoor surfaces are particularly susceptible to the growth of moss, algae, and lichen. These organic contaminants can accumulate on patios, pathways, and driveways, leaving surfaces stained, slippery, and unattractive while increasing the risk of slips and falls.

Our professional patio cleaning service is specifically designed to combat these challenges and restore outdoor spaces to their best condition. Every project begins with a detailed assessment of the patio surface, whether it is natural stone, block paving, brick, or concrete, allowing us to select the most appropriate and effective cleaning method.

Using powerful jet washing equipment and cleaning solutions, we safely remove built-up dirt, grime, moss, algae, and lichen without causing damage to the surface. Our specialist rotary surface cleaners deliver a deep, even clean across the entire patio, eliminating streaking and ensuring a consistent finish.

With Gutta Clean’s professional patio cleaning services, homeowners in Worthing can maintain attractive, well-presented outdoor areas that complement the town’s vibrant coastal setting and enhance the overall appeal of their property.

Why should I use Gutta Clean?

Homeowners in Worthing trust Gutta Clean for professional patio cleaning because of our expertise and attention to detail.

Our patio cleaning process begins with a comprehensive assessment of the surface material, its condition, and the extent of contamination. This allows us to select the most suitable cleaning method for each patio, ensuring outstanding results without causing damage. Using advanced jet washing equipment and cleaning products, we effectively remove dirt, grime, moss, algae, and other organic growth while preserving the integrity and appearance of the surface.

Once the patio has been thoroughly cleaned, we can apply a premium weather-resistant sealant to provide long-lasting protection against moisture, frost, staining, and general wear. This protective coating also helps reduce the return of moss and algae, keeping your patio cleaner and more attractive for longer. Please ask for a quote.

What kind of pressure washer do you use to clean patios?

I clean driveways using a high powered industrial petrol pressure washer with various attachments and a top of the range 18" surface cleaner. The surface cleaner is a round disc with a high pressure, rotating cleaning arm underneath which effectively removes dirt, algae and lichen from surfaces like block paving and concrete. The really good thing about the surface cleaner is it's not messy!

For heavily soiled surfaces, and weed growth, the pressure washer lance with Turbo Nozzle is used to great effect.

Do you use chemicals to clean or treat patios?

The use of industry specific chemicals is common. I use a particular chemical which helps to kill the lichen and algae and prolong the life of your patio. It also brings out the natural colours of the surface of the stone and bricks.

The chemical is applied using a special applicator at a specific concentration, then left for 15-20 minutes to work its magic. I then wash off the chemical with a rinsing attachment connected to the pressure washer.

If you would prefer me not to treat your patio with chemicals, please let me know in advance.

Do you offer any other services?

Further to cleaning patios, I also offer a maintenance service, which includes re-sanding block paving. This not only makes the block paving look really good, but replaces the sand that would be removed during the cleaning process.

I am happy to quote for any other pressure washing work, like wheelie bin cleaning, wooden decking cleaning, external wall cleaning and conservatory roof cleaning - just give me a call.

How much do you charge?

I take pride in my work and offer a great service at the best price!

Recent patio clean in Goring - By Sea. The patio and back step was heavily discoloured and covered in organic growth. First task was a vigorous clean with the turbo nozzle. This removed all the surface grime and staining. Next was a strong chemical clean, left for 20 minutes, then wash of with the rinse nozzle. The result was a patio that had never been cleaned since being laid looking so bright and clean! If you would like a quote for cleaning your patio, driveway or path, please get in touch.
Gutter hedgehogs
By damianplevans April 16, 2024
Gutter hedgehogs, or gutter brushes, look a bit like a huge pipe cleaner. The are placed into the guttering with the aim of stopping the gutters from getting blocked with moss, leaves etc. Do they work? The simple answer is "no". The muck washes down and accumulates underneath the brushes, making blockages even more likely than not having the brushes installed! The photos show two lengths of guttering AFTER the brushes were removed.

Muck in the vac after a gutter clean on a terraced house
By damianplevans November 6, 2023
Have you ever wondered what is in your gutters? Well, in many areas the answer is moss. In heavy rain, a lot of the moss on your roof washed into the gutters. Also, birds tend to pick at the moss and throw it into the gutters. I'm not sure this is intentional, but I'd guess they are looking for bugs or larvae to eat. Anyway, the moss, once vacuumed out, looks like the photo - a load of muck!! So next time you look at your roof, if you see moss on it, it's very likely you have moss in your gutters.
Gutters cleared
By damianplevans November 3, 2023
The weather has been truly awful of late, after a not so great summer. All the rain has highlighted problems that were un-noticed before - blocked downpipes, overflowing gutters and damp inside properties, to name but a few. Blocked downpipes have been a more frequent occurrence lately, probably due to the amount of rain we've had, and the intensity of it. I have been finding lots of moss build up in downpipes, often cause by bits of roof debris (bits of broken tile, mortar etc) wedged inside the downpipe causing an obstruction. The moss quickly piles up behind it, and, before you know it, you have a waterfall cascading down the side of your house!
Conservatory gutter cleaning
By damianplevans February 3, 2023
This job was particularly awkward as the property at the rear was an L shape due to having an extension, and a conservatory had been built in the gap. This made it difficult to reach the conservatory gutters, and not wishing to climb onto a roof with quite loose tiles and ridge caps, the only solution was to use the vac and poles. The vac coped well cleaning out two wide gutters / gulleys full of moss with a thick covering of leaves.
Different guttering
May 25, 2022
Most guttering these days is plastic, either black or white, half round, box section or profiled. Old guttering used to be made of asbestos based material or cast iron. The below set up is quite different, tiles on to a felt flat roof and gulley.
Soffits and facias cleaning

This is a recent clean of gutters, soffits and fascias in Worthing. The gutters were full of moss and muck, and the soffits and fascias were filthy!
